[VIDEO]কোষ্টা জাগা (Retting of Jute)

Retting is a process in which the tied bundles of jute stalks are immersed into slow running water by which fibers get loosened and separated from the woody stalk. The bundles are steeped in water at least 60 cm to 100 cm depth.

After completion of retting process stripping is done. In the stripping process, non-fibrous matter is scraped off, the workers dig in and grab the fibers from within the jute stem. The jute fiber comes from the stem and ribbon (outer skin) of the jute plant.

Jute fiber is eco-friendly. Plastic pollution may eradicate by use of jute fiber as raw material.
